Glad to see Classic Flute Cop again, I miss that guy. Oh, and I assume that Flutey’s college existed on a slightly altered timeline that doesn’t quite parallel ours, which is how he could spend 100 years there. My college years certainly didn’t feel like they existed in regular time.
Good to see Flute Cop is back to normal! He looks young for his age.
I always suspected Flute Cop was tougher than he looked.
Oh my goodness, I apologize for ever doubting the combat effectiveness of a flute.
And yet we never saw him use any of the non-musical abilities, even during the fleeting moments he reverted into his original form. Surely he had some time to use them in the field before he enlisted in Axe Cop’s team? Can we expect an Axe Cop Presents featuring the highlights of his 100 years of training?
This makes me want an Axe Cop fighting game so desperately. I hope I’m not the only one who immediately saw a Flute Slide—> Throw Up Spin combo.
Presumably some kicks were done off-panel, because otherwise Flute Cop might have been a bad guy and Axe Cop would never have known.
A recorder is also known as an English Flute and used to be far more common in Europe than the transverse flute (also known as a German Flute).
It does open up the possibility of a second flute cop that plays a transverse flute; the two could team up and do different special flute attacks.
I’m with you there, Phil.
I think that classic Flute Cop just became my new most favorite character.
I love that he is now referred to as “classic” Flute Cop”.
@Jonathan Playmaker That’s ‘cause this is in the past.
as someone who has been latched to the name “Flute Cop” for about a year now, I LOVED this episode.
I very much would love to play as Flute Cop in a fighting game… someone with Mugen get on that!
Trighostacopsrex should use a flute more often… I think that’s who he is now… I recall UniAvacado Solider using a Flute on one occasion, so I assume his past skills weren’t overrided in the transformations.
All hail “The Ultimate!” I love how mundane the overkill is - the flute cuts them up, then bombs him. Looney Tunes could not have done better.
I like that Flute Cop is a burly sort. I couldn’t help but think of Sammo Hung when seeing Flute Cop’s moves.
How does his development run? Flute Cop - Dinosaur Soldier - Avocado Soldier - Dinosaur Soldier - Ghost Cop - Trighostacopsrex?
Also, I have never felt more sorry for a sparring partner in my life.
Wow. Flute Cop must do Chi Gung or something… to look so young at 100+ years is a power all in itself. Maybe he’s related to Dorian Gray?
i think a poster featuring all of Flutey’s transformations is in order. Including the amazing Bad Guy Earth forms. Also, Malachai is 7 now? that’s crazy.
how has nobody made an axe cop video game yet?
That poor guy, he was just trying to pay for classes by being a TA.
@Bergerjacques and LaughingTarget
I KNOW RIGHT?! As I read this multiple times, I kept laughing out loud and yet saying “I feel so bad for that guy!”
Someone please make a MUGEN character out of this
How To Play A Flute, Then Whack Someone With It 101? Why does my college not teach this course? It seems like the kind of thing that would be an essential part of any higher education curriculum.
To be fair, he says “it takes 100 years” - that might mean for normal people. Maybe Flute Cop did it in ten.
Re: flute vs. recorder - Destronok is right; indeed, it is a long-running controversy in the musicology world whether the “flautino” referred to in the Vivaldi concertos is a piccolo (a small transverse flute) or a sopranino recorder. (At that time, “flauto” usually referred to a recorder and “flauto traverso” referred to a transverse flute.) So, on to the real question: is Flute Cop a time traveler? Upon consideration it seems obvious. Why else would he refer to a recorder / straight flute (blockfloete) using the term now recognized as referring to a transverse flute (querfloete)? How else did he become so instantly comfortable in the skin of a dinosaur? How else would he have completed a 100-year college course in time to sign up for Axe Cop’s seminal mission? Why else would the fact of his ghostly persona ring so strangely true?
