Axe Cop gets to be a cartoon? Awesome! I hope they do it justice!

Wow, what an amazing announcement.  To see something you created appear on TV must be the ultimate dream of an 8 year old. I can’t even imagine how exciting that is.  So is he famous at school or do other students not know about axe cop?

I hate to sound like a wet blanket, but I really hope they don’t screw up the cartoon. Whenever I hear the word “Fox” I cringe. Knowing that the segment is overseen by the creator of Adult Swim does help though.

We all knew this day (and the subsequent days of success) were coming, but I couldn’t be happier to see good things happen to a really, really, REALLY nice and decent guy. Props, Ethan. You so totally deserve it.

Congratulations Ethan, and Malachi! Is this finally a point when you can proclaim financial security? I’ve found your descriptions of the comic business pretty darn interesting.

@Chad I haven’t got a penny yet, this is only an announcement.  It will be a while before this pays, and there is no guarantee it will pay well.  Only if it is popular and merch sales pick up.  There is a good chance we’ll make some good money down the road because of this, but have by no means “arrived”.

Dammit, I don’t have a TV…

Just to note, Fox entertainment is totally separate from Fox news. Fox entertainment likes to remind us of that from time to time.

Man, Ethan.  You should have held out for Cartoon Network/Adult Swim.  Fox destroys everything they touch.  Anything not the Simpsons or made by Seth McFarlane will get cancelled really fast.

Then again, maybe the aesthetic will appeal to Fox’s audience, who have the average IQs of children.

Announcement is baller, but what I want to know is, did Malachai draw Junior?  Because if he did it’s mad impressive and you should tell him he is very good at drawing.

Great to hear about the toon—nice to hear they’re making cartoons that aren’t by Seth MacFarlane.  (And I like Seth MacFarlane.  But he doesn’t need three shows in the Sunday block.)

Also a good call splitting it into 15- (11-?) -minute episodes.  That’s a great length for Adventure Time and I think it’ll work well for Axe Cop too.

How Exciting! I hope that they can stay true to the original and that you guys made some serious cash in the deal, and that you guys still own Axe Cop.

Holy Offal, Ethan. That’s huge!! Will they simply adapt existing Axe Cop stuff? They way I read the article, the Fox exec is looking for a writer to adapt to a writing style similar to that of you and your brother? hahahahahahaha. Is it bad of me to doubt they can come up with something like that? Or to fear that someone of they find him/her?

I think the main problem w/Fox Entertainment is not whatever connection they may have to Fox News, but rather the fact that they have a history of badly mishandling their TV shows (see: Family Guy, Firefly).

But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained! This is a great opportunity to spread the awesomeness of Axe Cop. And at the very least, it’ll bring a new audience to the comic.

I just hope they keep the Axe Cop theme song…
