I have enjoyed all the guest episodes, some more than others, but this one is hands down the best.

Are the guest comics considered to be canon?  Even if not, Firegunfighter must become part of official Axe Cop canon somehow.

This is the best attempt I’ve ever seen at an adult emulating the enthusiasm, imagination, and overall skewed logic of a child.  Good job.

Timenado wins

“It ate time and pooped out history”

That’s how it happened, son.

Really wish people whose age is not a single digit would stop trying to do Axe Cop. Yesterday’s was on point. This? Not at all.

This is definitely the best guest comic so far (I just re-read them all to make sure).
The first secret attack, timenado and the firegunfighter were brilliant.

HAZZAH!  Thanks for checking it out peeps, and for the kind words as well.  And Brade, you’re right, people who don’t know any kids under ten should NOT be allowed to participate.  That’s what you’re implying, right?  Wait, no, you’re implying that we should only do Axe Cop comics which tackle series social issues pertinent to our own double-digit age and place in the social hierarchy, right?  Wait, no, what ARE you implying?  How, exactly, did YOU interpret the open invitation to send in illustrated love (including ‘guest comics’) for the Axeiversary?  In my admittedly COMPLETELY subjective opinion you seem a little cliche-art-gallery-patron-sobby in regard to something that’s supposed to be just silly fun.  OK, OK, being serious for a sec, you’re implying that it sucked and/or was poorly executed.  Fair enough.  Thanks for checking it out, anyway.  It’s very much appreciated that you gave it a chance.  But double-laser thanks to those who DID like it!  And triple-timenado thanks to Ethan.  It was an honor to be a part of the epic grandeur that is Axe Cop.

Oops, I meant “serious”, not “series”.  Sorry!

Nik. Honestly this was the most insanely creative thing I’ve seen in a while. I come to Axe Cop looking for stories that catch me off guard. And utilize logic I myself would not be able to immediately come up with.

This completely nailed the feel of an Axe Cop comic in that regard, without even having Axe Cop just repeating his prior adventures with X being replaced with Y.

I honestly don’t know what people are looking for if it’s not this. Maybe they want a serious Axe Cop melodrama. Or something for the Ladies. Hmm, actually a Girl Powered Axe Cop spin off guest comic might be an interesting to tackle, but I’m getting off topic. This was awesome. The logic was both completely confounding and yet entirely logical. Keep up the good work. Maybe a spin off about the Origin of the Flute? just throwing that one out there.

You win solely because you gave us Firegunfighter.

Oh, and the comic was good too, I guess. It comes pretty close to the original feel, but it also feels like the pacing’s a bit too slow. Ah well.

I have to sort of agree with Brade on this one, even though I’m in danger of also being harangued by Nik. I think the point Brade is making is that some of the stuff in this comic, while it would be cute if thought of by a 5 year old, just seems sort of weak, like Nik is trying too hard. Sure, some of it was epic and hilarious—Firegunfighter, anyone?—but a lot of the other stuff seemed like exactly what it was: an adult trying to emulate the cutesy style and feel of a child.

Am I saying Axe Cop guest strips should “tackle series social issues pertinent to our own double-digit age and place in the social hierarchy”? Nope. But guest strips shouldn’t try to be a normal Axe Cop, just written by someone else. And I’m not meaning that only Axe Cop guest strips shouldn’t be like that; substitute the name of any other webcomic in there for the same effect. But it just stands out way more with Axe Cop because of its unique style. No matter how well you do it, you’re never going to be able to copy that style, so trying to just falls flat, even if it’s decently funny and entertaining like this strip was.

This was amazing, and if it wasn’t for the art style, I could have sworn it was an original strip. Well done, sir, for your epic guest strip.

Wow, Flute Cop, that was rad.  Thanks a ton for those kind and thoughtful words.  That really means a lot.  And holy crap, origin of the Flute?  GENIUS.  And John, thanks for the thoughtful analysis on your end.  Your point is well-made (I went off on Brade because of what I interpreted as a pretentious tone, certainly not because of his dislike of the comic, which of course is valid no matter what the reason).  Though for me, reading adult-written Axe Cop comics are less about seeing someone mimicking a style so much as returning to the totally wild, anything-goes, imagining-by-the-seat-of-your-pants playful creation of childhood, albeit for only a short while.  I mean, we all used to play the way Malachai writes.  And how many of us adults have thought “Wow, I could sure go for some recess right now,” at one time or another?  That’s what this was for me, and, I suspect, for the other adults writing guest strips: illustrated recess.  So, thanks for your insightful comment, they were appreciated, and for checking out the comic.  And yeah, I’m yakking way too much on this thing, sorry guys.  I’m just excited!

Oh, and one quick stab at shameless self-promotion.  I do a web comic, http://www.gentlemancaveman.com, which is pretty different from Axe Cop (mostly zany conversation-based), but if anyone wants to check it out, that’d be amazing and very much appreciated.  The comics Axe Cop fans might especially like are under the tab “Misc.” on the homepage.  I’ve got a Superman vs. Wolverine on there, “How Do Dinosaurs Pick Up Girls?” (modeled after the kids book series), and, who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy the regular comics too in the Episode Archive.  If you check it out, HUGE THANKS!  And, I think, if you click on my name up above, it should take you there, too.  I will definitely shut up, now.
