Heck yeah!  Less than a month away, so I think it’s time to get this thread started! :D

Roll call: Who’s going?  Where are you staying?  Food tips?

I found several awesome things foodwise in 2010.  Mission SoMa is likely out of the way for most of you, but it’s on the corner of our condo’s block.  HUGE portions and darn reasonable pricing.  Be prepared to wait, though, as it’s usually packed and they make the food as it’s ordered.  Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options are available in addition to the traditional omnivore fare.  http://www.themissionsd.com/index.html

Back behind the Hyatt hotel towers is a little shopping area called Seaport Village where you can find Margarita’s Kitchen.  It’s a little Mexican restaurant that was relatively cheap and definitely decent food for the price.  Also vegetarian friendly, though I’m not sure about gluten-free or vegan options.  It’s a nice, low key, quiet break from the hustle and bustle of Comic Con.  http://www.margaritaskitchen.com/

A very awesome thing I discovered (sadly, -after- the con was over) is that there is a food delivery service that will deliver direct to your hotel!  Register on the website, place your order, and it’s brought right to you.  Delivery fee was less than $5 if I remember correctly, so if you’re splitting the order among friends, the fee is nominal at best.  This is pretty great when you’re too tuckered out to leave your room and just want the food to come to you rather than try to brave the crowds.  http://www.fooddeliverysandiego.com/  (I highly recommend ordering from Royal India, btw!)

It really depends…do you have a ticket with preview night or without?  I know last year they let non-preview night people pick up their badges, but it was in a totally different location north of the convention center.  If I remember correctly, preview night started at 6pm in 2010, and we ended up getting there roundabouts 7:30 and didn’t have much of a wait in line.

They’ll be posting badge pick up schedules and actual programming schedules very soon! :D

I didn’t get premier night because I didn’t go last year. I think the preview night ones sold out last year.

Yeah, preview night sold out while at con last year.

OK! At this point you’ll just have to wait and find out when you can pick up your pass!  They really should be announcing that info soon.  SDCC has their act together. :D

Their website will have all the information.  http://www.comic-con.org  You should be checking it pretty much every day from here until the convention.

I’ll be there with my brother. We’re staying at The Bristol: http://www.greystonehotels.com/bristol/

I’m really excited, since I’ll be taking someone with me who can appreciate the con as much as I can. It was cool being there last year on my own and all, but sharing the experience is just that much more spiffy.

Oh yeah, splitting room fees is a good reason to have a like-minded nerd with you, as well!

Has anyone given much thought to when we should all wear our Axe Cop costumes?  I know the panel is on Sunday, but I don’t know time or other events going on that might conflict and cause problems.  We should be seeing the schedules within a week, so serious planning can begin then.  I’m bringing Baby Man, of course, and I’m nearing completion on my friend’s Sockarang outfit.  Here’s a progress photo from this afternoon.

NICE. Is it going to be the bad santa Sockarang?

I actually hadn’t planned on bringing my Axe Cop getup. Maybe I should…

Power of Chrismas Sockarang all the way.  I put the beard on him and it was magical.  We’re going to cut some extra hair from a matching wig to give him the cracked out eyebrows.

There will definitely be Baby Man and Sockarang at the con this year, Bastian!  Where would we be without an Axe Cop?
