Page 217 – Bright, hot rainbows

“…and then Rainbow Girl shot a rainbow up in the air. It was so bright and hot that some of the good guys fainted.”

The last panel is one of Amelia’s contributions, and though it doesn’t happen often, the text there is exactly as she said it when she was telling me the story: “the dragon breathed fire and never died until the end.” It’s got that kid storytelling thing to it, where saying that a big bad guy doesn’t die while you’re fighting him is making the story exciting. I love it. Anyway.

Last week our GET REVENGE ON RAINBOW GIRL contest wrapped up. Our winner is… Aaron Pokoj. His revenge scheme is as follows:

“Rainbow Girl and the dragon fuse, creating Fire-Rainbow Girl, who then promptly eats Lightning Boy to steal his powers. At this point, Axe Cop is discouraged, but then Mr. Stocker reveals that he actually had super powers all along! He grows to a massive size and fights the new monstrosity, paralyzing it. Axe Cop kills it by chopping off its head. He then takes the monster’s bones to make a new surprise-proof suit, and takes the exact change needed to buy a smoothie out of its pocket. He then cuts off Mr. Stocker’s head for lying about not having powers.”

Poor Mr. Stocker. But really, if you’re going to be on a crime-fighting team, you have to divulge these things right away.

KIDS’ QUOTES OF THE WEEK

they’re eating dinner that daddy has prepared.
Charlotte: “I give this… a 10.”
Daddy: “Aww, thank you Charlotte.”
Charlotte: “…out of 20.”

Walking around somewhere:
“Can you pick me up, Unca Tommy?
My feet are getting hurting.”

Page 200 – Stab!

I love stabbing people with major bodies of water.  Leaves no evidence, it’s clean, refreshing, good for you and the environment… the Water Queen is modeled after my wife in her look, but in this scene she also resembles how thorough and thoughtful she is.

Anyway, as I said last week… I’ll be at Comikaze Expo in Anaheim right at the beginning of November.  You gotta come.

Also, for our next online Axe Cop story line I have a bit of a surprise for you.  More on that soon.

P.S.  Hey, look it’s page 200!  Yay for arbitrary milestones!

Page 198 – Water and Power

Truly, this has become a family affair.  They are going to have quite a story to tell about their wedding day, I tell ya!  I remember my main thought drawing this scene was “Yes!  please, kill Cauber Helen so I don’t have to draw it ever again!!!”.

Want some good news?  New episodes of Axe Cop are set to air on FOX starting Nov. 2.  That is less than a month away!  I’ve seen a few of them already and I can assure you they are awesome.  The night creatures episode in particular is really well done.

That’s all I have to report right now.  Thanks for reading!

Page 194 – Ultro Power

When Malachai suggested this, I assumed “Ultro Power” was a real thing from a cartoon on TV.  I tried to Google it and could not find it anywhere, so hopefully we are clear of copyright infringement.  Super Hypno Monkey Bat Man is enough of a risk.  Anyway, never underestimate the power of a good high five.

I got to see a couple episodes from the next season of Axe Cop and they’re awesome.  I have to admit, these were episodes I did not get to be as involved with as I wanted to be, but I think they nailed it.  The next season airs in November, so get ready!

Page 193 – Chunk

Chunk is a sound right?  I think it is.

Well, on we go.  I don’t know if I should feel shame or pride for the combination of dialog and sound effects on panels one and two, but I simply couldn’t help myself.

WeLoveFine.com has posted even more awesome Axe Cop shirts.  They just keep coming!

I recently got to see one of the new Axe Cop episodes coming to FOX in November, when we start showing new ones again.  It’s so good!

Also, I went to Rose City Comic Con this weekend in Portland, OR and had a great time.  Malachai came too, and so did Kailey, our colorist.  It was fun meeting so many people who really love our comics.

Well, more Thursday.  See you then!

Page 191 – Down Under

With apologies to Matt, who requested in the comments last week “On behalf of all Aussies, please please please don’t draw us as the stereotypical, crocodile Dundee version that is so prolific in America.”  First I had already drawn this page when he made this request, and I am drawing Australians as Malachai perceives them through pop culture, not as they really are, and in his mind they all own boomerangs and are good fighters. Not such a bad stereotype as far as stereotypes go.  When I was 17 I worked two jobs (a day job and a night job) to save up and go to Australia and New Zealand.  It was awesome.  I really want to go back.  I’ve been hoping some Comic Convention in Australia would invite me out at some point, but so far no luck.

Well, I don’t push Kickstarters usually unless they are from friends of mine, but I wanted to give this one a boost out of pure fanboy love of the 90’s beat’em up style video game.  I still have a dream that Axe Cop will be made into this kind of game.  River City Ransom is one of the greats, and this sequel looks amazing.

I think that it is also worth mentioning that there are some really awesome t-shirt designs up at MightyFine.  See you Thursday (unless you are a Bearmageddon reader, see you tomorrow!).

Hey look a new page!  I don’t have a lot to say right now, it’s been a hectic day.  But you could go check out friend of Axe Cop Michael Regina’s new project on Kickstarter, Adamsville.
